The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

Whenever a prominent awards ceremony draws close, one notices a demand for the addition of new categories to recognize overlooked contributions and satisfy the passions of fans who have specialized interests.

Another commentator previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. The same goes for board games, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. Yet I need to apologize in advance for pushing forward because like all blinkered fanatics, I possess a compelling case for why my demand is the most urgent above others. The demand is this: We need an award type for logic-based games.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Organizing artistic expressions isn't exact; it’s very subjective, and it will always generate discussions concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why movie academies steer clear of genre categories. However, it represents an unavoidable compromise for the industry of video games, showing incredible range they barely qualify a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to gain proper attention, and for games of all stripes to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Existing Game Classification System

Leading game ceremonies currently feature classifications covering Action, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Between them, these classifications effectively encompass many game types, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.

This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. No suitable classification appears to accommodate them. Examine these examples from outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: the architectural riddles in a particular game, the pulse-pounding block-matching of another game, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. What category would fit them within current classifications? Simply put, no category fits.

Recognition Challenges

There are dozens outstanding logic titles launched regularly that have no home during gaming ceremonies, if they accidentally match award groups including Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive small studio competitions.

  • An iconic brain-teaser wasn’t nominated for anything that year
  • Another imaginative release was excluded in 2019
  • Well-received sorting experience got ignored recently
  • Limited numbers of puzzle games managed to sneak into independent or mobile categories

Importance of Logic Titles

Commonly they're small games, but the art in brain-teasers carries substantial weight. Famous handheld logic titles rank among most popular titles globally continuing this trend for an extended period.

The legendary block-stacking game competes with popular creative games competing to become highest-selling title ever; it additionally competes as greatest title ever. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks within interactive entertainment, and engaging with almost every other genre.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Logic titles wouldn't face this problem. It would be easy to populate a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences every year with ease — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent many worthy titles.

To emphasize again, these include experiences lacking appropriate categories during prominent ceremonies. Puzzle game makers are working at the challenging frontier of video game design, creating some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Just like film action specialists, they warrant appreciation. We shouldn't delay generations.
