Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the team reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Fans can expect learning which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
