Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
